Blogging Vs. Niche Blogginng - What's the difference?

The biggest difference between  regular blogging and  niche blogging are the topics. A normal blogger will write about several different topics they are interested in, while a niche blogger has a very narrow focused topic. As an example Mary may have a main topic of her blog about her kidsraising kids in general or , while Laura's niche blog is focused on raising kids with ADHD.

Mary's posts may include things loosely related to raising her kids, while Laura's posts are all about the topic at hand. Niche blogs also usually have a variety of products the blogger is promoting directly related to their niche. A regular blogger actually has more advertising options, because they aren't limited to a single niche topic, but the audience won't be as targeted. I hope that makes sense.

  1. Yes, that does make sense. Like the marketing info also. I guess each genre has its appeal. Ideally a general would link to a niche or vise versa. Any ideas on the best way to "hook-up" the two?

  2. So our blogs for this class would be considered Niche Blogging since we have choosen specific topics to blog about. Is that correct?

  3. @KAckroyd Combining the two would make it a more general blog, with niches as different topics within the blog. This is easier to do with a Wordpress blog as it has Categories where Blogger just has labels.

  4. @Karen Right, some of them, like your Women Ride Too, would be considered niche blogs.
